Luca Cumani confirmed today that he will have three runners at the Dubai Carnival on Thursday; Fiery Lad, Swop and Summit Surge. The boss (hope you are reading Luca!) has a team of four for the trip to the desert, the other being Presvis, a horse that Kieren just doesn't seem to click with and won't be riding.
Mr Fallon is working hard in the Emirates - at least that 's what I think he said - and he will also ride Secrecy for Goldolphin on Thursday. Kieren rides at Jebel Ali on Friday before flying home for Lingfield.
One of the worst days for being an agent is a Monday. Trainers are grumpy, you are waiting for the entries to come out for Saturday at around 1pm and then you eyes drop once you realise that 'good thing' isn't there or, if it is, that you won't be able to get on it..
In the space of 20 minutes today, I had a trainer try to 'convince' me he had a 'cert' for a 0-55, another that constantly called me Tony - eventually I gave up correcting him and answered with enthusiasm- and one that called me a tosser - okay the last one wasn't a trainer but my mother but it fitted in with the ethos of the hour.
In truth, the weekend is starting build nicely. There are already five in the can for Saturday, although i'm expecting a phone call around 9am on Thursday to announce a non-runner ; owner is having a wisdom tooth out, pleurisy has set in or that 'the owner didn't realise you booked Kieren's rides and he won't use him because you got off one of his in 2004." That did happen.
There is likely to be news tomorrow about another potential top-notch ride for Kieren in Dubai and a possible new jockey to add to my books. After the decision of Eddie Ahern to join Willie Ryan, it leaves me on the lookout for one to complement Kieren.
